Week One; Animation Experiments
First go at using flash;
difficulties with getting the sound to export, discovered it was a simple task !
Very time consuming but reasonably easy.
Week Four; Simon's cat animations

Very good, simple illustration technique. I think my illustrations are simple enough to animate, however I may need to make further adjustments when it becomes technical.

Week Four; Animatics and Final Cut
This week we looked at Animatics and Final Cut.
To begin we looked at the Gorillaz music video;
http://www.youtube.com/
We then looked at the animatic of the video

Having looked at a good animatic example, we were then asked to create a simple animatic for one scene of another movie - 'Ident' by Aardman Animations.

After scene selection, key frames of the animation were drawn, photographed and taken into Final Cut. The images were then synchronised to the original movie soundtrack in an attempt to carry the narrative.
I feel I matched the sound to the narrative quite well, and I'm pleased with the outcome, however the story board illustrations were slightly unclear as I used a marker-pen, and the paper I used were quite weak.
Animatic's would normally be done before the final movie, but we did this as an example of how animatics are produced, and it was a good introduction to Final Cut.

'The idea of an animatic was introduced as a useful tool for developing and planning our movie.
An animatic is a simplified on-screen version of your movie idea which often takes the form of frames from a storyboard which have been pieced together and synchronised to a rough sound track'.
